Summary

Significance: WHITE SAGE was originally constructed as a yard lighter YF 444 for the U.S. Navy YF 257 class. This class of vessel provided logistical support to naval operations during World War II. Following the war, the U.S. Coast Guard acquired eight of these vessels to perform service for their aids to navigation as buoy tenders.
