U.S. Naval Base, Pearl Harbor, Temporary Storehouses - 1944 Type, North Road at Neches Avenue, Pearl City, Honolulu County, HI

description

Summary

Significance: Facility Nos. 489, 490, and 491 are associated with the expansion of facilities at the Naval base during WWII. They were the second set of storehouses built on the fill land that created Kuahua Peninsula. These storehouses, along with the others, were vital parts of the supply system for bases in Hawaii and for the advance lines in the Pacific during the last years of WWII. They have great integrity of design, location, setting, materials, workmanship, feeling and association. These structures remain an integral part of the late WWII group of Naval Supply Depot buildings. Facility Nos. 489, 490, and 491 are contributing elements of the Pearl Harbor National Historic Landmark.
