Summary

Significance: The Naval Base at Pearl Harbor was designated as a National Historic Landmark in 1964, due to the crucial role it played in the Nation's defense during the twentieth century and the calamitous events which occurred on December 7, 1941 as a result of the Japanese attack. Building 478 is a Waterfront transit storage/staging facility and is located adjacent to Wharves K10 and K11 at the Fleet & Industrial Supply Center, Pearl Harbor (FISC PEARL). This building has been determined eligible as a contributing source to the Pearl Harbor National Historic Landmark.
