The labor-management committee at Wallace Silversmiths in Wallingford, Connecticut staged a public hanging of three effigies that looked like Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito but were named Lost Time, Inefficiency, and Accidents. The invitations were arranged so that when opened, three cut-out figures rose to the top of the gallows. The rally was instrumental in recruiting several hundred skilled men for war production
