Summary
Significance: The Washington D.C. Temple is the first North American temple built on the East Coast of the United States of America. It is located on 52 acres of wooded land setting it apart from the urban congestion that surrounds it. The 160,000 square foot structure has an exterior built from reinforced concrete sheathed in 173,000 square feet of Alabama white marble. An 18-foot statue of the angel Moroni stands atop the 280-foot east center tower.
