Significance: It is significant as the first power production and transmission facility constructed on the Spokane River outside Spokane. The historic property consists of the connected, but irregular shaped "old switching building," the power plant that houses the four turbine-generator units, and the run-of-the-river dam. The brick and concrete power plant, old switching building, and dam have undergone minimal exterior modifications since their construction in 1906.
