Commenting on the wheat prices of 1907, the cartoon appeared in the Minneapolis Journal in response to a front-page article announcing that high prices paid for wheat would greatly benefit the northwest region. Despite some concern over "decreased wheat acreage," the article was optimistic regarding expectations for a plentiful harvest in the fall, and, if prices held, a substantial profit.
