Ziegler Farm, House, North side of Seventy-second Avenue, west of Hudson Road, Denver, Denver County, CO

Significance: The Ziegler Farm is an example of 1920s and 1930s vernacular farm architecture. The farm buildings provide examples of Colorado plains dairy farm architecture during the period. As a complex, the farmstead offers an example of the work process and flow of a dairy farm and its methods of operation. In particular, the two barns , milk shed and the associated corrals offer a clear representation of the evolution of dairy cattle tending and milking operation as carried out by the Zieglers from the 1930s through 1973.

The Ziegler tenant and dairy farm is an example of farm development in the area. Tenant farming was a common pattern of land use and livelihood for much of the area during most of the twentieth century. The Ziegler family worked as tenant farmers for three generations and their tenancy lasted over sixty years. Family members worked first for the District Land Owners Trust and then for Box Elder Farms until the 1990s.
