Zion Church (Presbyterian), State Route 1, Columbia, Maury County, TN

description

Summary

Significance: This building has been in continuous use by the Presbyterian Church since its erection in 1849. Its severe architectural style reflects the stern tenets of its builders who came as a group to the Zion community in 1807 and provides an interesting example of rural church architecture in Middle Tennessee. It resembles closely in such architectural details as the stepped gables and recessed porch of the homes of its builders.
