The first act of the U.S. Secret Service when they were g even supervision of the Treasury Guards was to outfit the men with new uniforms. A neat summer uniform of blue shirt with blue trousers and Sam Browne belt was taken the place of the blue, green, white, pink and other conflicting colors in shirts formerly worn by the guards. Senate Committee told million railroad employees back Crosser-Wagner Pension Bill. Washington, D.C., May 15. Appearing as the first witness in favor of the Crosser-Wagner Railroad Pension Bill, George M. Harrison, President of the Railway Clerks Association and Chairman of the Railway Labor Executives Association, today told the house Interstate Commerce Committee that 1,500,000 railroad employees favor this new bill which if passed, will replace the present Railroad Retirement Act. Harrison added there was "no doubt of its constitutionality" and that it had been worked out with railroad managements on the understanding that it would not be attacked in courts by them. Connery, Jr., of Massachusetts, who sponsored the legislation in the house, are anxiously awaiting the decision of the Supreme Court on the validity of the act. The Supreme Court was due to reach a decision today but adjourned without announcing its ruling. Pope, Democrat of Idaho, has introduced a bill in the Senate to increase the Federal Government's contribution, through the Social Security Board, to care of dependent children from third the maintenance cost to one half. At present the government contributes half the cost of old age pensions and aid to the blind. The Pope proposal would bring the law with reference to dependent children in conformity to the provisions relating to other beneficiaries of the act. 6/8/37
