Within the shadow of the U.S. Capitol, Miss Marion Weldon, Paramount starlet, with the assistance of D.C., Postmaster Vincent Burke, plants a Deodor Tree on the city postoffice grpunds as a memorial to the airmail pilots who have lost their lives. Representing Hollywood in observing national Airmail Week, Miss Weldon, who has just finished work on the forthcoming Paramount Technicolor production "Men with Wings", brought the tree to Washington as a gift of the Altedena, Calif. Pan American awarded New York-Bermuda airmail contract. Washington, D.C., Jan. 15. Submitting the only bid, Pan American Airways today was awarded the contract to carry air mail from New York to Hamilton, Bermuda. In announcing the bid the Post Office Department said the following rates would prevail --.00001 cents per pound for a specified load of 800 pounds and .000005 cents per pound over 800 pounds. No. 1 air passenger presents award to PMG. Washington, D.C., May 20. Climaxing the celebration of National Airmail Week, Andre Kostelanetz, noted orchestra and a two-time winner of a trophy for being America's number one air traveler, today presented to Postmaster General Farley, a bronze placque which he (Kostelanzetz) sent around the world by airmail to show how that branch of the service has speeded up the delivery of letters and packages. In 1937 Kostelantz won the title of number air passenger by flying a total of 136, 200 miles. In the center is Lily Pons, noted opera singer and financee of Kostelanetz

Farley, receives from Miss Marion Weldon, Paramount Starlet who is playing in the Paramount production "Men with Wings" a model of the De Haviland Liberty plane used twenty years ago for carrying airmail, sent from Hollywood as a gift from William Wellman, producer-director of "Men With Wings" a history of air mail. Transatlantic flyers describe trip to President Roosevelt. Washington, D.C., May 15. Dick Merrill (left) and Jack Lambie as they arrived at the White House today to present President Roosevelt with a "first cover" of their coronation flight for the President's stamp collection. The airmail envelope was dated New York city May 8, stamped in London and again stamped in New York on their return yesterday. According to flyers the President seemed much interested in the weather they encountered and the altitude at which they made the flight, 5/15/1937
