To determine the correct amount of alloys necessary for desired results in the making of castings and other uses, the U.S. Bureau of Standards is conducting daily tests. 600 different portions of the alloy are used at the present time. The tests are made with brass bars which are melted in a high frequency induction furnace and the temperatures are recorded before and during the pouring into the molds.
