Reports to Soviet embassy of search for missing transpolar flyers. Washington, D.C., Sept. 13. Jimmy Mattern, noted flyer, leaving the Soviet Embassy today after reporting on his search for the six Russian Polar Flyers lost far above the Arctic Circle. Mattern told embassy officials he is convinced the flyers are dead and lost forever in the rugged ice wastes of the Arctic. 9/13/37
