Four Freedoms and Arsenal of Democracy posters. All set but for the overhead lighting. This 15 x 30 foot panel and a second of life size entitled the Four Freedoms were displayed in Defense Square, Washington for a month beginning November 7, 1941. The panels, entitled The Four Freedoms and Arsenal of Deomocracy, were designed for the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) by Jean Carlu, eminent poster artist. They were shown first in New York and after the Washington showing went on a tour of many large cities throughout the country

Four Freedoms and Arsenal of Democracy posters. Ready to go is the huge 15 x 30 foot Arsenal of Democracy montage deseigned by Jean Carlu, eminent poster artist, for exhibition at the National and Civilian Defense Exposition in New York and in many other cities throughout the country. The panel is divided into 2 12 foot squares. The artist seems pleased with his work, which is only the second time this particular montage technique has been used. Behind him are figures from the Four Freedoms panel, which equal in size to the Arsenal of Democracy. Both panels were prepared for the Office of Emergency Management (OEM)

Protectors of the Four Freedoms raise Old Glory by the Office of Emergency Management's (OEM) huge Four Freedoms photomontage at the National and Civilian Defense Exposition in Grand Central Palace, New York. This panel, which measures 15 x 30 feet, and another of equal size entitled Arsenal of Democracy were designed by Jean Carlu, eminent poster artist, in accordance with a new technic in montage used only once before. With the final section still to be placed on the scaffolding, a worker is already installing the wiring for the two 15 x 30 foot photomontages displayed in Defense Square, Washington for a month beginning November 7, 1941. The panels, entitled The Four Freedoms and Arsenal of Democracy, were designed for the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) by Jean Carlu, eminent poster artist. They were shown first in New York and after the Washington showing went on a tour of many large cities throughout the country

The artist is Jean Carlu who designed this panel and one portraying the Four Freedoms for exhibition by the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) at the National and Civilian Defense Exposition at Grand Central Palace, New York and later at defese shows in a number of cities from coast to coast. Carlu's technique is a relatively new one, having been used only once before in photomontage design
