A bad New Years start for the children. A group of doffer boys who were cleaning up in the Atherton Mill, Charlotte, N.C., during the noon hour. The superintendent had forbidden my taking any photos on the company's premises, so I slipped in at noon when authorities were away, gathered the boys together and took this. See photos 472 to 479.
