Youngster presents President Coolidge with check for flood victims and first "Buddy Poppy" for Veterans of Foreign Wars. Today was a happy one for little Elizabeth Anne Stitt, three-year-old daughter of Commander-in-Chief of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, for she had the honor of presenting President Coolidge, as head of the American Red Cross, a $500 check for the Mississippi Flood victims and the first "Buddy Poppy" of the season. The check was a contribution from the "buddy Poppy" Relief Fund of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. General Pershing gets first American Legion poppy. The American Legion poppy drive was officially opened in Washington today when General John J. Pershing received a buddy poppy from Mrs. Louise W. Williams, a national president of the American Legion Auxiliary. Little Lois June Allen, five-year-old daughter of deceased veteran, presenting President Hoover with the first Buddy Poppy of the annual campaign conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States for the relief of disabled veterans and their dependants.
