Taps sound for famous general. An impressive military funeral marked the last rites for General Tasker N. Bliss, war-time Chief of Staff, held at Arlington National Cemetary Wednesday. The photograph show the pallbearers nearing the grave with the casket. In the background can be seen General John J. Pershing and General Charles P. Summerall, present Chief of Staff. The grave of the distinguished soldier-statesman is situated between those of former President Taft and Robert Todd Lincoln. 11/12/30

Impressive services marked the burial in Arlington National Cemetary today of three members of the "Polar Bear Army," whose bodies were to this country from Russia. The men were Privates Elmer E. Hurley inaugurates construction work at tomb of unknown soldier. Secretary of War Patrick J. Hurley broke the ground to start construction of approaches to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetary. Plans for the work were selected as the result of a nationwide competition and the $416,000 project was begun at this time for the purpose of relieving unemployment in the vicinity of Washington, Left to right in the photograph: Col. Tomb of Unknown Soldier is completed. Finally completed, the Tomb of America's Unknown Soldier as been opened to the public at Arlington Cemetary. Cut out of Colorado marble, the monument shows the figure "Victory" holding with one hand a male figure representing "Valor" and with the other a woman depicting "Peace". The main section of the monument is the largest single piece of marble ever quarried in this country, originally weighing 55 tons and being cut to about 40 tons

Veterans is observing a period of silence at Salt Lake City. The wreath was placed at exactly 12:30 standard eastern time, June 23rd. The ceremony extended overseas where wreathes were also placed on the tomb of the unknown soldiers at Paris, Brussels, London, and Rome
