Gordon Bennett International Balloon Trophy goes to U.S. Army Air Corps. The Gordon Bennett International Balloon Trophy, property of the National Aeronautic Association by virtue of three victories by American Balloonists, was today presented to Assistant Secretary of War for Aviation F. Trubee Davison for the Army Air Corps for a year by Orville Wright, secretary of the Contest Committee of the Association An Army pilot, Captain W.G. Kemper, secured the trophy for America by winning the race from Detroit last year. Glass gauges are lighter and cheaper than steel, permit greater visibility in inspection, are not as much affected by room temperatures and heat of operators' hands, are not corroded by perspiration, need no protection against rusting, do not acquire burrs that would change the effective sizes.
