Decorated for continuous gallantry and devotion to duty while under fire in the East African campaign, Regimental Sergeant Major LIanyier Dagarti of the Gold Coast Regiment, Royal West African Frontier Force, was the first Gold Coast soldier to receive the M.B.E (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in this war.
