Collecting pitchers is hobby of Virginian. Arlington, Virginia, July 2. Twenty five years ago Mrs. William B. King of Arlington Virginia, started her hobby of collecting pitchers. Now she has over 300 and only two duplicates in the collections. She has pitchers from almost every state in the Union as many from foreign countries. England has contributed a fine Toby, a pitcher in the shape of a cow and another which is a souvenier of Oxford. Included in her collection are also ones from Italy, Germany, France, Holland, Africa, Belgium, Mexico, and Bermuda. Her hobby seems much more interesting when you consider that all her pitchers are used on different occasions instead of being used for decoration only, 7/2/37

Denounces Black-Connery bill. Washington, D.C. June 9. The pending Black-Connery Wage and Hour Bill was bitterly denounced today by Harvey Willson, Manager of the National Upholstery and Drapery Textile Association, when he appeared before the House and Senate Labor Committee. Pictureing the bill as a long step towrd complete governemtn control of industry and labor such as exists in European countries, Willson expressed the opinion that it would wholly unworkable as a law and would only result in confusions in industry far exceeding that connected with the attempt to administer the late NRA. 6/9/37

Veteran Polish weather expert joins staff of Smithsonian Institution. Washington, D.C. March 14. With home, laboratory, and invaluable records of years presumably lost in the recent Polish War, Dr. Henryk Arctowski, of the University of Lvov, one of Poland's foremost scientists and former Antarctic explorer, has started at the Smithsonian Institution the monumental job of determining direct effects of changes in the Sun's radiation on weather conditions on Earth. Recognized in all countries as one of the greatest living authorities on world weather, Dr. Arctowski is continuing his studies in efforts to find relationships between solar conditions and rainfall, barometric pressure, etc., at various places on Earth. His earliest meteorlogical observation began as a young geologist on the Antarctic exploring ship Belgica in 1897-99. For release morning papers of March 18 - 40
