A bloody bullet-torn undershirt was displayed to the Senate Civil Liberties Committee today by Thomas Ferguson, coal miner union Representative, to suport his story of having been shot last January by Harland County deputy sheriffs. He admitted that he could not identify the group of deputies who fired the shots, one of which was soft-nosed bullet that entered his shoulder and came out in the back. Lewis former Deputy Sheriff in Harlan County, Ky., told the Senate Civil Liberties Committee as it resumed its investigation of alleged terrorism in connection with Harlan County Coal Operators' efforts to resist union organization drives. The money was returned to Sheriff Theodore R. Middleton each month in 1935 and 1936. Lewis added that many of the men listed as drawing salaries from the Sheriff's office were not regarded as regular employees, and several of them worked for coal companies, 4/22/1937

This North American B-25 "Billy Mitchell" bomber, similar to the type used to bomb Tokyo, has established an unique combat record in several theaters of war. Lieutenant General Henry H. Arnold, Deputy Chief of Staff for Air said the B-25 can "go farther, faster and carry more bombs than the best ships of our enemy." The plane is flying near the Inglewood, California, plant in which it was made. Photo of Ordinary's Certificate for Curtis Wynn, 9 years old (and therefore illegal). The Deputy Clerk told me "That was likely a clerical error." but I found five of these "errors" issued to children under 10 years old, one for a child aged 8. (The latter was later marked 'Void' but none of the rest were.) Rolly's teacher told me the family had moved, but that the boy was a mere baby with a lisp. The issuing of the certificates is very unbusinesslike. (See Vaughn's Report, Georgia. The Ordinary said, "I'm a practical man! The cotton mill people are the poorest paid workers in the country.
