By a vote of 11-12, the Senate Foreign Relations Committee today shelved the consideration of neutrality legislation until next term of Congress. By defeating the Pittman Resolution, they dashed the administration's hopes for repealing the arms embargo. Gillette vigorously denied that he voted as he did simply to take revenge for the president's attempt to defeat him at the last election. Both Senator Walter George, left, and Guy Gillette, right, have been in the center of a question mark since it became known that the committee would vote on neutrality legislation today. The 'Tomato Can' radio microphone which was used to broadcast the Harding-Cox election returns on November 2, 1920, is one of a series of historic microphone presented recently to the Smithsonian Institution. Hatch, Hansel Proffitt, and Pat Harrison, Representative from Mississippi, at the meeting of the Senate Judiciary Committee today. Mr. Proffitt is a lawyer representing George L. Berry, defeated for re-election to the Senate in the last election in Tennessee, and claims that Berry's salary should be paid up until his successor, Tom Stewart, took the oath of office.
