Dotheboys Hall in session tucked away upstairs over the store. Equipped with antique, dilapidated benches and chairs. The lessons begin at 6 A.M. and last for six hours, and these children who attend in the morning go into the mill in the afternoon and vice versa for the required eight weeks, which the law specifies. Taking everything into consideration it shows what travesty vocational guidance may become, and is in itself the best example of Dotheboys Hall I have ever seen, except that it is not half so practical as was Squeer's school. Williams School - Brush, Colo. 7 children present out of 30 or 40 that are expected when beet work is over. It is Oct. 27, seven weeks after school opened. The school is well equipped, the teacher has a degree (A.B.) and one other teacher in this district (out of five rural teachers) also has the same degree. Salaries run from $65 to $75 a month, 9 mos. school. The tremendous loss of schooling in these Colorado schools seems all the more wasteful when we see the good facilities read for the children's use. Location: Brush, Colorado / Photo by Hine.
