Construction workers' shack on government property off new highway to flying field which is also in the making. Living quarters of gravel pit workers and truck drivers. Ten to twelve men are housed and fed in this shack, which was built by the group who occupy same. Name of shack is Texas Long Horns. Entire gang is from Texas. Mr. M.A. Pevot of Mauriceville near Beaumont took most of the initiative as well as doing the cooking. He owns a small grocery store in his home town which is cared for in his absence by his wife, mother and father. Three of the trucks, which are very old, belong to him, and he rents them to his associates. Most of the trucks on this job were owned or rented by the worker. Shack is located in section known as Pleasant Grove, near Camp Beauregard. Alexandria, Louisiana
