Karl Stefans, of Nebraska today conferred with tribesmen of the Winnebago Reservation over his Indian bill to provide compensation for members of the Winnebago Tribe for lands which the Indians[?] were forced to leave in Wisconsin in 1863, despite the fact that the tribe had never fought against the U.S. Rep. Stefans points out that the Sioux Nation is now receiving compensation for its lands, and feels that Winnebagos should be compensated for their lands. Questioned by the committee on the alleged defalcations totaling $87,000 of reno[...] Stitley, former Chief Voucher Clerk of the CCC, Reed declared the Army Chief Finance Office acted in good faith when the alleged fraudulent vouchers were honored. He added the finance officer was instructed to honor any and all vouchers presented by persons designated in communications between the Army and other government departments concerning handling of finances for the CCC, 1/18/38

Surrounded by a park about 40 acres including woodlands, and with other lands adjoining and other land nearby also at the disposal of the Red Cross, the site is ideal for the purpose to which it has been put

A Brain Institute, second to none in the world, is being established here by Georgetown University Medical School under the direction of Dr. Othamr Solnitsky, of Germany. Dr. Solnitsky has already collected several thousand brains from all over the world, which will be used for experimental purposes, and is making arrangements with the Biological Survey and the Bureau of Fisheries to furnish a supply of brains of North American Vertebrates.
