Before he came here, he worked in the cotton mill at West, Tex., for five or six years. Said boys work in the Cuero mill under age. "They don't even bother to ask your age. Didn't ask mine. Prendergast chief of the uniformed force of the Chicago police, defended the tactics used by his men last May 30 when ten marching strikers were killed at the South Chicago plant of the Republic Steel Corp. Questioned by senate Judiciary subcommittee. Washington, D.C., Dec. 4. Prof. Henry W. Edgerton, (right) recently nominated by President Roosevelt for the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, as he appeared at the Capitol for questioning by the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee in regard to whether he opposed the rights of courts to declare acts of Congress invalid. He stated that as a judge, he would not hesitate to declare a law unconstitutional if he believed it to be.
