Production. Milling machines and machine castings. We are inclined to compare all liquids with water. Iron trickles through little channels with a speed that makes water look sluggish -- a surprising thing until you realize that, molten or not, it's still heavy as iron. Location: a large Midwest machine tool factory

Studying why fruits taste that way. E.K. Nelson of the Department of Agriculture is shown making tests with an apparatus which the Department imported from Germany for the purpose of studying the essential oils or "flavor-giving" content of fruits and vegetables. At present chemists are acquainted with the essential oils of only a few fruits, such as some of the citrus group. The apparatus is a vacuum distill which permits the distillation of liquids at temperatures much lower than usual by reducing the pressure, 1/10/31

Civilian defense. Fire prevention. Gasoline, naptha, benzine, and other highly flammable liquids are too dangerous for general use around the home. The cleaning of clothes in the home should be done with one of the many non-flammable preparations now on the market. The other dangerous liquids should not even be stored in the home. They started 20,000 fires last year, resulting in the destruction of four million dollars of property
