Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish leaders meet in Washington to assist jobless. The problem of unemployment is not only economic, but ethical and moral as well, and responsibility for its solution rests upon the whole American people. President Hoover was advised today by a delegation representing three national church groups sponsoring the National Conference on Permanent Preventives of Unemployment, meeting in Washington this week. Heading the delegation to the White House were, left to right: Rabbi Edward L. Israel, chairman of the Social Justice Commission, Central Conference of American Rabbis; Reverend R.A. McGowan, of the social action department, National Catholic Welfare Conference; and James Myers, Industrial Secretary, Social Service Commission, Federal Council of Churches, 1/27/31
