The Douglas A-24 (Dauntless) light dive bomber is the Army counterpart to the Navy SBD, with certain modifications to meet Army requirements. It was designed for dive-bombing operations against ground troops and installations. It is equipped with slotted diving flaps to decrease air speed and obtain greater bombing accuracy.
