Drinking fountains are provided at engineering projects and recreational parks for visitors' convenience. This one was donated by the labor unions associated in the Tennessee Valley Workers' Council as a memorial to a labor relations official of the Authority after his death. The bronze dedication placque carries the favorite stanza of the deceased which reads as follows: "Mourn not the dead who in the cool earth lie, Dust unto dust, The calm sweet earth that mothers all who die, As all men must, But rather mourn the apathetic throng, The cowed and the meek, Who know the world's great anguish and its wrong, And dare not speak."

American Red Cross camouflaged "Crache." The American Army has a camp where all materials destined for the front are camouflaged. They wanted a number of French women to help them with this work. The women were, for the most part, mothers, and could not do the work as there was no one to care for their babies. The Red Cross was asked to care for them and opened this home, which is under the direction of Miss Mary E. Mather as directrice. The mothers and children are, for the most part, refugees from the invaded districts, as well as the French nurses who are seen standing on both sides of Miss Mather
