President receives CIO leaders. Washington, D.C., Sept. 15. "Matters of mutual interest" were discussed was the only statement John L. Lewis, Head of the United Mine Workers and the CIO, made to newsmen today following a conference with President Roosevelt. Chinese ambassador gives latest war news to newspapermen. Washington, D.C., Sept. 25. Dr. C.T. Wang, Chinese Ambassador to the United States, reading to newsmen today a statement in which he charged that the Japanese Army in China has placed itself "beyond the pale of humanity" by indiscriminate bombing of civilian areas, destruction of Chinese Red Cross units an the use of poison gas.
