Private Seidu Issalia, Gold Coast Regiment, Royal West African Frontier Force, has received the military medal for bravery in the East African campaign. On January 4, 1941, while acting as runner to his platoon commander, he was shot through the groin while taking a message to command headquarters. Despite his wounds, he crawled on and delivered the message and then crawled back to his platoon commander to inform him that his mission had been accomplished.
