Senate Banking and Currency Committee hears Secretary Wallace. Washington, D.C., June 7. Secretary of Agriculture, Henry Wallace, today told the Senate Banking and Currency Committee that he approved the bill to revamp the Farm Credit System because farmers need relief from 'excessive interest charges and debts which they cannot pay. In addition,' he said, '60 percent of all the National Farm Loan Associations have had their capitol so impaired that they cannot make new loans. Beyond question there is room for improvement in both the general farm credit situation and the Federal Land Bank System'

Replying to the statement of Chairman Truman of the Senate Rail Inquiry that the proposed reorganization plan for the Missouri Pacific Railroad by the Alleghany Corporation would result in the M.P. being run in the same old way, W. Senate Committee told million railroad employees back Crosser-Wagner Pension Bill. Washington, D.C., May 15. Appearing as the first witness in favor of the Crosser-Wagner Railroad Pension Bill, George M. Harrison, President of the Railway Clerks Association and Chairman of the Railway Labor Executives Association, today told the house Interstate Commerce Committee that 1,500,000 railroad employees favor this new bill which if passed, will replace the present Railroad Retirement Act. Harrison added there was "no doubt of its constitutionality" and that it had been worked out with railroad managements on the understanding that it would not be attacked in courts by them.
