Conversion. Merry-go-round plant. This is a South Bend swing lathe used formerly in the manufacture of merry-go-rounds. This machine, along with others in this New York state plant is now turning out bits and pieces for our war program. The worker is machinist Fred Luther, whose skill was formerly used to amuse children, is now aiding in the job of protecting children and assuring them a life in which amusement will be as much a part as before the rise of a fascism.
