Andenito Carro, 14 years of age working her 2d season is seen carrying a 25 lb. load of berries. Besides the great physical strain in the carrying such weight, these girls also pick berries. Franklin plans benefit bull fight. Sidney Franklin, only American who has ever gained pominence as a bull fighter, is back from Spain and is planning to put on a bloodless bull fight at Newark, N.J. on Nov. 20, the gate receipts to go for the benefit of the unemployed. The photograph shows Franklin exhibiting darts used in real bull fighting to Dr. John R. Mohler, chief of the Bureau of Animal Industry, Department of Agriculture, where Franklin called for information regarding importing bulls of fighting strain from Mexico. The darts would not be used in any psuedo bull fights that might be staged in this country. 11/20/30

The brute force of a mighty plane engine, over a thousand horsepower, will strain at the bolt holes drilled by this girl worker in an engine bulkhead for a wing spar of a B-17F heavy bomber. She works in the Long Beach, California, plant of Douglas Aircraft Company. Better known as the "Flying Fortress," the B-17F is a later model of the B-17, which distinguished itself in action in the South Pacific, over Germany and elsewhere. The huge map on the floor of the Post Office Department here is all out of kilter these days due to the aggression in Europe. Many are the embarrassing questions being asked officials about when Mr. Farley is going to do something about Ethiopia, Austria and Czechoslovakia. The answer so far has been - nothing.
