Visitors in a horse-drawn wagon observe a stately bull elk at the National Elk Refuge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, created in 1912 to protect habitat and provide sanctuary for one of the largest elk herds on Earth. The refuge borders Grand Teton National Park to the north.
