Royal Air Force "Ventura"  bombers blitz Den Helder in daylight. "Ventura" aircraft of Royal Air Force bomber command, escorted by fighters, attacked the docks at Den Helder by daylight on February 12, 1943. Their previous visit to the Dutch port was January 23. Action photo taken during the attack shows many bombs bursting across the southern entrance to the naval basin--four of them in the inner haven (Naval). Hits were scored on the torpedo boat establishment and the torpedo workshops east of the entrance.
