Gordon Bennett International Balloon Trophy goes to U.S. Army Air Corps. The Gordon Bennett International Balloon Trophy, property of the National Aeronautic Association by virtue of three victories by American Balloonists, was today presented to Assistant Secretary of War for Aviation F. Trubee Davison for the Army Air Corps for a year by Orville Wright, secretary of the Contest Committee of the Association An Army pilot, Captain W.G. Kemper, secured the trophy for America by winning the race from Detroit last year. The Marines Corps defeated the United States Coast Guard eleven at Griffith Stadium today in Washington 18-0, thereby again gaining possession of the President's Cup which was won last year by a team representing the Navy. The Navy not having a team this year turned the Cup over to the Coast Guard and in this picture Admiral Charles F. The Collier trophy is awarded to Uncle Sam's Department of Commerce for 1928. The Collier trophy, which is awarded annually by the National Aeronautic Association to the person or organization for the "greatest achievement in aviation in America, the value of which has been demonstrated by actual use during the preceding year" was presented to the United States Department of Commerce today by President Coolidge. The Aeronautics Branch of the Department of Commerce received the trophy because of its valuable contribution to the furtherance of civil aeronautics. No. 1 air passenger presents award to PMG. Washington, D.C., May 20. Climaxing the celebration of National Airmail Week, Andre Kostelanetz, noted orchestra and a two-time winner of a trophy for being America's number one air traveler, today presented to Postmaster General Farley, a bronze placque which he (Kostelanzetz) sent around the world by airmail to show how that branch of the service has speeded up the delivery of letters and packages. In 1937 Kostelantz won the title of number air passenger by flying a total of 136, 200 miles. In the center is Lily Pons, noted opera singer and financee of Kostelanetz

Widow of noted flyer receive medal. 12/13/30, Mrs. Florence Shaw Page receives the Distinguished Flying Cross awarded posthumously to the late Capt. Arthur H. Page, U.S. Marines, for this "pioneering" scientific [...] and successful accomplishment in the art of blind flying." The particular flight for which he received the medal was from Omaha to Anacostia, D.C., the distance of 1,000 miles having been made by flying blind the entire distance in one day. Capt. Page was also noted for having won the Curtiss Marine Trophy Race last spring, flying the 100-mile course at an average of 164 miles an hour. He died from injuries received when his plane crashed during the Thompson Trophy Race at Chicago last September. In the photograph, left to right: Maj. General Ben H. U.S. Flyers win Mackay Award. Washington, D.C., May 8. Nine officers and enlisted men of the U.S. Air Corps were today presented with the Mackay trophy for 1936 as a reward for the heroic flight under unfavorable weather conditions from Langley Field, Virginia, to Allecan, Mich., last August. The trophy, which is awarded annually for the most meritorious air plane flight of the year, was presented to the flyers at Bolling Field, D.C., by Maj. General Malin Craig, U.S. Chief of Staff. Cup to winner of marathon. Washington, D.C. June 12. Winner of the sixth annual Evening Star Marathon for the National A.A.U. Championship today, Mel Porter of the Millrose A.A. of New York is presented with a bronze trophy by Dr. Leo S. Rowe, Director of the Pan-American Union. A field of the fastest marathon runners in the western hemisphere participated in the race which started at Mt. Vernon, Virginia and finished at the zero milestone in Potomac Park. Porters time for the distance was 2 hours and 43 minutes.

The Collier trophy is awarded to Uncle Sam's Department of Commerce for 1928. The Collier trophy, which is awarded annually by the National Aeronautic Association to the person or organization for the "greatest achievement in aviation in America, the value of which has been demonstrated by actual use during the preceding year" was presented to the United States Department of Commerce today by President Coolidge. The Aeronautics Branch of the Department of Commerce received the trophy because of its valuable contribution to the furtherance of civil aeronautics. In the picture left to right, can be seen Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Aviation, William McCracken (right) receiving the trophy from President Coolidge White House, Washington, D.C.
