New Assistant Secretary of Interior. Washington, D.C., Dec. 20. Ebert K. Berlew, of Pennsylvania, who was today nominated by President Roosevelt to be first Assistant Secretary of the Interior. He succeeds Theodore Walters, who died a few weeks ago. Mr. Berlew has been in the government service for 27 years--most of the time in the Department of Interior, 12/20/37

Takes oath as first Assistant Interior Secretary. Washington, D.C., April 8. His nomination finally approved by the Senate after three month's consideration of his fitness for the post, Ebert K. Burlew was today sworn in as first Assistant Secretary of Interior to succeed the late Theodore A. Walters of Idaho. Burlew, a civil service career man, arose from a clerk-ship in the war department to the present post as an Assistant Cabinet Officer. In the picture, left to right: Ebert K.
