Mit der Rettung von mehr als 500 Pfund Blechdosen an einem Tag organisieren diese Harlemer Jugendlichen einen Tin Can Club of America unter der Schirmherrschaft des New York City Salvage Committee. In ihrem Hauptquartier in einem leerstehenden Geschäft in der 151 East 103rd Street sammelten diese patriotischen jungen Männer nicht nur, sondern verarbeiteten auch mehr als die Hälfte der Zinnmenge, die für den Bau eines Kampfflugzeugs der Armee benötigt wurde - und das alles an einem Tag.
