It's the vast city's main jail complex in the middle of the East River. This photo of a lovely house and grounds was obviously taken elsewhere . . . at the home in the city's Queens borough whose original owner, Dutch immigrant Abraham Rycken Van Lent, whose family name would be americanized as "Riker", also owned the island that would one day hold the notorious jail
