Summary
Significance: A National Historic Landmark, it was completed in 1886 as the summer home of James Wallace Pinchot. The chateausque mansion was based on a design by Richard Morris Hunt. It was subsequently modified probably by James Pinchot himself. The interior finishes were designed by Henry Edwards-Ficken. James Pinchot had two sons who contributed significantly to the development of the estate.
