Workers on Rickenbacker rescue boat. A life raft built by Mrs. May E. Thompson and Robert S. Barnhart and six members of his crew drifted for three weeks in the Pacific before being picked up. Said Barnhart, when informed of the part they had played in the rescue, "it makes a fellow mighty happy to know that something he has done in the war effort has really cashed in"

Conversion. Beverage containers to aviation oxygen cylinders. After they are stamped on the huge toggle press in the metal division of a large rubber factory, these cylindrical domes which make up half of a shatterproof oxygen cylinder, are placed on a large conveyor where they are carried to workmen who will apply the circumferential and longitudinal straps.
