Holz enthält etwa achtzig Prozent Zellulosefasern und zwanzig Prozent Lignin, das bisher als Abfall galt. Ein Laborarbeiter kippt eine Lignin-Sägemehlmasse in den Fermenter, den ersten Schritt bei der Verarbeitung des Kunststoffs.
