Here she pushes her footstool to the sink in order to help her mother clean up the dinner dishes. Mrs. Heath, a native of Winsted, a city some twenty-five miles away, is delighted with her new kitchen--the first she's ever had which she actually considers as a kitchen, and is trying out all the recipes she has collected in five years of married life. A poster comes to life. "This reminds me of home" said Sergeant Vineyard as he downed another piece of Mrs. Woolslayer's devil's food cake. When refreshments were brought out, the welder and the Army Sergeant forgot all about the war and fighting and production, and embarked on a gossip session the likes of which you'll find in Iowa, Kentucky, Oregon or Vermont. As American as baseball, the Sunday afternoon visit is a friendly and democratic means of relaxation common to soldier, worker, bank president and school child alike. Proudly seated next to the Sergeant is eight-year-old Georgia Ann Woolslayer
