Craig Satalic and Al Bass, both officials for Iron Workers Union (IWU) Local 1, review their entrance into and history in the trade, the importance of the union, the apprenticeship program, labor relations in Chicago, women and iron working, safety and ironworking over time, insurance, and the role of unions in American society today.

Satalic and Bass were interviewed at the same time. They are busy fellows and some of the phone calls and interruptions during the interview are recorded here.
