Summary
Significance: This structure is significant as the first long-span steel bridge and first continuous truss bridge built in Florida. As the third bridge in the state to cross the Apalachicola River, a major waterway, it greatly improved travel in the panhandle. The bridge is also a notable example of a Depression-era public works project.
