The largest American Red Cross warehouse in the Balkans is in Belgrade, where are stored hundreds of thousands of tons of food, clothing and medicines, sent from the American Red Cross chapters to relieve the distress and suffering in this stricken part of southeastern Europe

Volunteer Workers in Roumania. A group of Roumanian peasants who volunteered their services to the American Red Cross at Bucharest in making garments for the poor in the devastated areas. One of the most admirable traits of these simple couuntry folk is a disposition to help their less fortunate sisters in the devastated countryside. The only return they sought was a little kerosene oil, so that they could work nights, and this the Red Cross was able to furnish them without difficulty

Miss Blanche Grundy of San Francisco, nurse in the Junior Red Cross of America Children's clinic at Elbasan with her interpreter and one of the many children who have undergone treatment there. Polish orphans dance for American Juniors. The eight girls incostume, war orphans of Poland, are anxious to show their gratitude to American school children for their generosity, arranged an evening of national dances in honor of their kind friends across the seas. They live in an orphanage in Warsaw that has been aided by the Junior Red Cross of America. One evening they appeared at American Red Cross headquarters in the costumes here pictured and danced folk dances familiar to the peasants from childhood. When they had finished their little program they asked that their young friends in America know that it was done in gratitude for the food and clothing sent them

Poland's tribute to America. This is the first of the delegation of 20,000 Polish children who marched in Warsaw on July 4 in honor of America, whose Independence Day has been made a national holiday by Poland. One by one the schools marched into the square before the Opera until the entire plaza was filled with enthusiastic youngsters shouting and singing before the replica of the Statue of Liberty which was erected in the high balcony of the opera, which constituted the reviewing stand for American Red Cross workers and other citizens of the nation being honored

Sunday Church Parade in the Raib. Podgoritza, Montenegro, like New York, U.S.A. has its fashionable church parade on Sunday morning. This long line of people is leaving the Greek Orthodox church on King Peter of Serbia's name day, a big church day. While the churchgoers are mostly women, the entire population is more than usually religious. About twenty five percent of the people, according to statistics gathered by the American Red Cross, profess Mohammedanism, the introduction of this religion dating back to the Turkish conquests of a portion of Montenegro many decades ago

Balkan Pilgrims Applaud America. On St. Basil's Day at the Monastery of Ostrog, in Montenegro, the American Red Cross was loudly acclaimed by a crowd of several hundred pilgrimers, who listened intently to the words of the Priest in praise of the relief work done by the Americans. The group is typical of the people among whom the Red Cross is working, teaching lesson of sanitation as well as reliving the immediate cases of distressing want

Trudeau Sanitarium, Hachette. A quiet hour under the pine trees. The children have a splendid place to play in the big park that surrounds the Trudeau Sanitarium at Hachette, near Paris. The manor house of Hachette is an AMERICAN RED CROSS hospital for tubercular women. In the grounds nearby barracks have been built where about 180 children are housed, each for a period of three months or more. They are under-nourished children of tubercular tendencies, many of whom have tubercular parents. They are brought from bad living conditions in the cities, and the good nourishment and outdoor life at Hachette go far to establish their health pemanently
