Bantam, Connecticut. 1942's first snow storm cut down attendance at the Episcopal Church, but even in good weather Bantam is not a community of churchgoers. Young Reverend H. Waldo Manly, who came to Bantam a few years ago from Washington, D.C., is president of the newly formed Bantam Lions Club. He says Bantamites live normal lives and are good neighbors. Arrest for anything other than traffic violations are practically unknown there. The tall man on the walk in front of the church is Spike Beves, a Warren McArthur sheet metal worker, who sings in the church choir. Spike, who now lives in Bantam with his wife and son, was formerly an insurance investigator in Brooklyn, New York
