Summary

Significance: If local information is correct, this structure is the oldest cabin in South Pass City. Possibly built in 1869 on land owned by John Murphy and sold to Elizabeth Cosgrouse in that year, this cabin is located on unpatented land unreferenced in either Sweetwater or Fremont County records. Mrs. Jean Chipp resided in the cabin from 1935 to 1972 when it was sold after her death to the Wyoming Recreation Commission.
